China-Tibet Luxury
Trains
Luxury suites fashioned out of exotic stones, warm
woods and luxuriant leather, these luxury suites
featuring custom bath products, fine linens and a 24
hour butler bring luxury train travel to new levels.
With oxygen enrichment systems and a responsible and
environmentally friendly practice, there's all the
more reason to espouse the concept of slow train
travel, allowing you to slowly acclimatize to the
oxygen levels en route to Tibet.
Spectacular Tibetan plateaus, snow-capped mountain
ranges and pristine lakes are some of the scenery
you will enjoy as you travel through remote areas of
China in unprecedented levels of luxury.
The itinerary begins in Beijing, where Urbane Nomads
can arrange for tours to the Forbidden City,
visiting sites currently being restored and normally
closed to the public, led by leading
conservationists. A stay by the Great Wall in a
house designed by Kengo Kuma can also be arranged,
as is an early morning yoga session by a private
portion of the Great Wall- truly a spectacular,
memorable start to the journey.
The first day on the train takes you to Xining,
arriving in Bird Island just in time for lunch.
Off-train excursions are available in Xining and
Bird Island before departing for Delingha, where the
arrival is timed to coincide with breakfast.
We will be arriving in Golmud early evening, staying
overnight on board with an early morning departure
to Yuzhu Mountains, travelling through Cuona Lakes
and Nagu before arriving in Lhasa.
The journey from Beijing to Lhasa takes 5 days and 4
nights.
