This
itinerary combines the highlights of Indonesia- the royal culture of
Yogyakarta, the ancient temples of Borobudur, the respite of Bali and an
expedition to the Komodo Islands in style, diving and snorkeling through
some of the world's most biologically diverse underwater sites. A
superlative journey combining the cultural highlights of Yogyakarta and
Borobudur with the natural attractions and adventure of a Komodo
Expedition.
Bali: Based at the Kayumanis Ubud, a lush estate in a popular part of Bali,
this is a perfect respite and base for you to explore Bali. Visiting the
main temples of Bali or alternatively fitting in a one-on-one.
Komodo
Expedition: A seven night expedition through Indonesia's famed Komodo
park(inclusive of 2 nights in the exclusive Amanwana tents), you will
venture through the Komodo and Rinca Islands based on the Amanikan, a
32-metre Phinisi coastal cruiser. Sailing from Labuan Bajo to Sabolan
Island for some diving and snorkeling, more snorkeling and diving
can be had after lunch off Tatawa Island.
A three-hour trek on Rinca Island to view the Komodo dragons happens
on Day 3 with a hike on Komodo Island itself as accompanied by a park
ranger on Day 4. Cruising the Komodo straits to the Northern Gili
islands throws up exceptional diving and snorkeling opportunities.
Day 5 introduces you to some exceptional, world class dive sites,as
the boat heads back to Moyo Island after lunch. You'll be treated to
views of an amazing sunset, fringed by the twin peaks of Sangeang
Volcano.
The next day sees your arrival at Amanwana, where you will be based
for the rest of the two nights.
Yogyakarta:
Staying in Rumah Sleman, a boutique hotel that houses the Raffles Letter
collection in one of its rooms and incorporates original furniture from
the Kasunanan Royal Palace Solo, explore Yogyakarta in a city tour
again, taking a look at its famous batik industries, the classical dance
and music scene, the wayang kulit (leather puppet) and for more niche
interests, Yogyakarta has also produced a school of modern painting in
Indonesia best characterized by the late Affandi, the famed Indonesian
impressionist.
Lombok/Bali: Depart back to Lombok or Bali today, staying for one night before onward
flight back.
Borobudur: The largest Buddhist sanctuary, the impressive Borobudur is a
singular attraction for most coming to Yogyakarta.
Based at the Amanjiwo with views over Borobudur, some of the
available activities include a morning semadi (meditation) session in
