Mongolia is a land of
extremes- from the Gobi Desert bordering the Great
Wall of China in the South to Lake Khuvsgul
bordering Siberia in the North, the country combines
the various landscapes of inhospitable deserts,
forlorn steppes, mythical snow-and-blue lakes
landscape of the tsaatan people, the inspiring
environs of Lake Khuvsgul or the rolling green hills
of Arhangai.

accommodation in Mongolia takes on a different

summer encampment of the tsaatan people(occupying a
land coinciding with the territory marked referenced
as Shambhala in ancient Buddhist texts), riding with
the Kazakh people as they show you the prowess
of their hunting eagles or simply gallop for hours
each day on the backs of Mongolian horses famous for
their unique gait , somewhat affectionately termed
the 'Mongolian death trot' for the amount of
discomfort it causes to the rider at the end of the
day.
One of the greatest
horse cultures in the world, Mongolia is a place for
horse lovers. Famously known as a land with 'no
fences'- live the life of a nomad, galloping across
the steppes, setting up tent at the end of the day
and repeating the process till you reach your
destination.
Although most of the
people you encounter are largely homogenous and
share the traits of living a nomadic lifestyle and
living in gers (Genghis Khan's claim to ruling this
diverse land was by calling himself the 'ruler of
all ger-dwellers), you'll meet people as diverse as
the Muslim Kazakhs, the minority Urianhai people who
are famous archers and the reindeer herding
community (tsaatans).
