Falconry Trip with the Kazakh Eagle Hunters

An itinerary created for falconers and adventurous cultural enthusiasts
alike, this trip will have you based in the most luxurious gers
overlooking the Mongolian steppes in Ulan Baatar, engage in courtship
rituals on horseback and accompany Kazakh horsemen as they go
falconeering.
Day 1:
International arrival from Beijing. Transfer to your luxury ger
with glass windows overlooking the vast steppes of Mongolia and
a magnificent central bath in marble. In the afternoon, transfer
on horseback to the Bogd Khan Uul National Park, one of the
world's oldest national parks home to wolves and foxes and
endangered species of hare and deer. You can continue on your
trek to the impressive Chinggis Khaan ger camp where it is
possible to switch to a camel. Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant.

Day 2:
Flight to Ulgii. Upon arrival we visit the Kazakh Culture Museum.
Afterwards we drive to the west, across the Sagsai river where the camp
is set. (L,D) Day 3: Day trip to Tsengel Khairkhan Mt:
Here you'll find yourself riding side by side with the legendary Kazakh
eagle hunters, a group of people who'd fled communist-era Kazakhstan to
the remote mountains on the Kazakh-Mongol border. It is here that the
Kazakh traditions are best preserved.You can also witness poetry
duels- another significant tradition which the Kazakhs in Mongolia have
preserved and are famed for. Witness, too, courtship rituals on
horseback and a nomadic version of polo involving a goatskin. End the
day with a Kazakh feast with traditional song and dance.
The next day, drive to the local airstrip for the flight to
Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival at the airport transfer to your luxury ger for dinner and overnight. The next day, transfer to the airport for the flight to Beijing.

You would require a considerable degree of horseriding ability to go
falconeering on horseback with the Kazakh horsemen. However, we can
similarly arrange for falconry enthusiasts to be based in vehicles for a
spot of falconry. Prices are inclusive of domestic flights from Ulan
Baatar to Ulgii, accommodation and all ground arrangements in Mongolia.
The trip is for a minimum of 6 persons.
