Luxury Travel to Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Whether based at
the large 5-star accommodation of Raffles Hotel Le
Royal, the modern Khmer-laced charms of Amanjaya,
the dangerously named Foreign Correspondents Club
(which, functionally, is a bar with some rooms) or
the rustic colonial-era hotel-within-a-garden The
Pavilion(where no children under 16 are allowed),
Phnom Penh has a range of hotels to offer different
types of travellers. While admittedly not as
polished (nor as expensive as Siem Reap's), the
relatively untouristy vibe in Phnom Penh paired with
the confluence of exciting restaurants and local
initiatives sparks off an exciting feeling of being
in a city on the cusp of being discovered.
Take a tour of
'New Khmer Architecture' (a period in the 1950s or
60s when Khmer culture received royal patronage from
the then-King Norodom Sihanouk) on cyclo or by foot.
