From the famous
Northern circuit of Tanzania that takes in the
unique and spectacular Ngorongoro Crater and the
Serengeti, chimp trekking in Mahale or the more
remote safari experiences in Selous and Katavi,
Tanzania presents many opportunities for a
connoisseur's safari, combining private game
reserves and remote places with alternative
interpretations of a safari.
Tanzania, with its

The Serengeti, famous
as the continuation of the Masai Mara- Serengeti
eco-system, is about three times the size of the

Whilst the Northern
circuit typically covers Arusha, Ngorongoro Crater
and the Serengeti, look eastwards too, towards Lake
Manyara, described by Arthur Rimbaud as 'the most
beautiful place on earth'. With much less cache and
a foothold on the popular imagination than, say,
Ngorongoro Crater, the lush forests of Lake Manyara
will lure, surprise and draw in even the most
seasoned of safari travellers.

natural surroundings and infrastructure. You could
run into an African bull elephant on the way back to
your room, blowing bubbles in your bath while
watching wildlife right outside the full glass

monkeys and baboons perched on a suitably
