For
those who’ve traveled to every corner of the
earth, Urbane Nomads promises to put
together an itinerary that will blow away
minds — from a safari in Burma to tasting
cheesecake in a bakery owned by a Malaysian
ex-premier. Hands down, there is no better
gift than one of adventure … if you can
afford it, that is.~

A trek on horseback to visit
the tsaatan (reindeer
herders)in Mongolia.
Witnessing (or
participating) in a
courtship ritual on
horseback in Kyrgyzstan,
game viewing on horseback
around the Okavango Delta or
pantaneiro excursions
around the Pantanal Wild
Wet, staying at private
lodges accessible by private
charter.
Have us arrange for you
polo tours in Argentina,
combining the three P's-
galloping through the pampas
of South America, polo in
Buenos Aires and Cordoba and
trekking through the forests
of Patagonia.
Alternatively, witness the
resurgence (or
reconstruction) of polo in
Mongolia within the comforts
of your ger (yurts) in a
remote part of Mongolia.
Whether you intend to
participate or not, in this
polo game unfettered by
Western rules (as the
Mongolians during the
Genghis Khan era must have
played it, we can only
imagine).
On the subject of no-rules
polo, travel to Pakistan,
making your way through the
scenic mountain-top-and-lake
views of Chitral to the
mystical Shandur Pass- the
highest polo grounds in the
world hosting an annual polo
tournament with equally
fabled roots.
We probably should include
the courtship ritual on
horseback in Kyrgyzstan in
this genre as well. Or
participate in a game of
buzkashi with the locals in
Kyrgyzstan and/or
Afghanistan.
For the multiple
variants of polo, we're able to arrange for yak
polo- rather popular with tourists, in Mongolia, or
a spin with the somewhat displaced yak polo players
in Pakistan.
The more social
strain of pachyderm polo happens in Thailand, Nepal
and India, revolving around rousing social events
for the first two. We'd be happy to arrange trips
for you to participate in these events.
A falconeering trip with
the eagle hunters of
Western Mongolia.
An 11-day horseriding
safari through Amboseli
and Chyulu Hills. The
trip can be extended to
include a few days in
Lamu at the end of the
trip.
An itinerary combining
polo clinics in the
estancias of Buenos
Aires with a stay in
horse country Cordoba!
A horseriding safari in Botswana that harkens back to the old days of expedition
safaris. Combines well with a tour of Cape Town before or after the journey.
This itinerary, designed to coincide with the Pushkar Camel Festival (but works
equally well during other times of the year), combines the highlights of India's
Golden Triangle with a horse trek through the remote villages of Rajasthan,
visiting the famously ornate Jain temples and picnics recalling the glamour of a
bygone era, whilst staying in a dazzling assortment of accommodation choices-
the former hunting lodge of a Maharani, a resplendent Art Deco palace or former
Maharaja's residences.
A week-long horse trek through Northern Mongolia, visiting the summer encampment
of the mythical tsaatan (or
reindeer people).
Chic hotels, in-the-know
addresses in Uruguay and
galloping on the pampas.
