directs its efforts at benefiting both sides
of the nomadic equation- helping nomadic
communities preserve their lifestyles as
well as improving the lives of refugees.
The Mongolian NGO Itgel Foundation addresses
the issues of preserving the lifestyles and
traditions of the Tsaatans or
reindeer herders, threatened by factors as
various as modernization, adverse
environmental conditions and more
specifically, concerns about the loss of
genetic diversity amongst the Tsaatan's
reindeers.
On the opposite side of the nomadic equation
are the refugees and internally displaced
people- those who are nomadic not by choice
but out of necessity. USCRI focuses on
refugee rights and resettlement in the US
and works with partner organizations to
address similar issues internationally.
