The Angevins, Savoys, Viscontis, Cardinal
Mazzarino, Napoleon and the Orleans dynasty. It's
fair to say that history has left its mark in the
small village of Cherasco which originally dates
back to medieval times and bears traces of art and
architecture that can still be admired today from
the Caste to Palazzo Salmatoris, from the Triumphal
and Belvedere Arches, to the delightful churches
dedicated to Sant'Agostino and San Pietro, the
unique beauty of Cherasco is to be found in its
intense cultural activity.
In fact, the village hosts three large antiques
fairs every year, a joy for discerning collectors,
and five specialized markets covering paper,
ceramics and glassware, antique toys, vintage,
music, arts and crafts and quality gastronomic
produce. Given its position it make an excellent
base for discovering the food and wine of the
Langhe's generous countryside.
