Once upon a time, in the distant 1300s,
there was a tiny little hamlet called
Amorosa... today, the ancient stables have
been converted in charming restaurant, the
old cellars filled with an excellent
selection of wines and, in the villa,
romantic bedrooms and luxurious suites
created. Open all year.
Figures well as part
of a luxury travel itinerary through Italy.
Nobody staying at the Locanda
dell’Amorosa will remain
indifferent to its charm and the pervading
atmosphere of serenity. Perhaps it is the
aura of the accumulated happiness of all
those generations who, with their labour and
their love, have cared for this
corner of Tuscany, that has made
this place so unique.
Locanda dell’Amorosa’s bedrooms and
suites are all individually appointed,
featuring an attractive combination
of traditional country furnishings,
antiques, and period paintings. A
number of rooms, where welcoming
open fireplaces are lit in the winter months,
have a ‘home from home’
feel. Some boast marvellous views of the
grounds of the hotel and the surrounding
countryside, or look on to the internal
courtyard, whilst others, created in the
rooms where the farm workers once lived,
open directly on to the colonnaded portico.
In addition to the large spaces of the
courtyard and the gardens, Locanda
dell’Amorosa has an extensive agricultural
estate, with vineyards, olive
groves, woods and fields, where
guests can take walks through the
countryside.
An ample private car park is available for
guests' use.
Restaurant
Le Coccole dell’Amorosa is
a charming, country style eatery
created in what were once the Locanda’s
medieval stables, the careful conversion of
which has both preserved and enhanced the
centuries-old features of the original
building.
Open daily for lunch and
dinner.
Le Coccole dell'Amorosa’s
delicious Italian cuisine is inspired by both Tuscan and Mediterranean culinary
traditions. Chef Francesco Sabbadini
employs the products of the land with dexterity
and passion, creating delicious seasonal dishes
with Tuscany’s world famous cured meats,
Chianina beef, Cinta Senese and Grigio del
Casentino pork, free range poultry, the cheeses
of Pienza, and the vegetables and
aromatic herbs grown in the Amorosa’s kitchen
garden.
The
highly prized white truffles
of the Crete Senesi of San Giovanni d'Asso,
the saffron of the Val d'Orcia, the
Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the
lands of Siena, these are just some of the
precious ingredients used to create the
wonderfully light and fragrant cuisine of Le Coccole dell’Amorosa.
Restaurant Le
Coccole dell'Amorosa’s
well-researched wine list ,
compiled by sommelier and dining service
coordinator, Aziza Zraik, features labels
from the best Italian wine producing
regions. Not surprisingly,
Tuscan
wines dominate the selection,
amongst which we find the Amorosa’s own,
much acclaimed, ‘Borgo Amorosa’.
