This garden villa nestled next to a beach unique to
Bali, with volcanic black sand and a wholly relaxing
atmosphere, has a distinct walled garden, enclosed
for maximum privacy, and is furnished with
contemporary architecture influenced by the Balinese
Hindu philosophy, incorporating local materials such
as white Palimanan stone, antique doors framed with
dark volcanic rock, local artwork on the walls, a
Merbau wood floor, and woven rattan-woodskin mats,
into luxuriously fine finishings.
Extending from a lush tropical garden, one can
access a private 14-meter long beachside buff with
timber decking, and from there, enjoy an unhindered,
spectacular view of the ocean and out to Lembogan
Island, as well as the immense and mysterious cliffs
of Nusa Penida. Tall and lofty coconut palms wave in
the sea breeze overhead, creating that ultimate
feeling of cozy, languid tranquility.
In the garden, guests can admire a beautiful lotus
pond, and a 14-meter by 4-meter lap pool, 1.8m deep
and paved with traditional green Java stone. After
an invigorating swim, one can always adjourn to the
comfortably large bale bengong (the relaxation
pavilion), or perhaps request the use of the
subtly-small spa beside the bale. Outdoor shower
facilities and poolside lounges are also present,
and interspersed with all these modern-conveniences
are aged stone carvings, intricately-designed
terracotta wall panels, fragrant frangipani trees,
and the typical coastal greenery.
Beach-living at its best, the villa’s dining and
sitting areas boast a semi-open concept by the
swimming pool, furnished with bamboo blinds and
ventilated by sweeping ceiling fans. Within the
living area, a warm and bubbly Jacuzzi sits,
blending into the pool by way of an attractive
waterfall feature. A hi-fi system with
surround-sound guarantees that guests will be able
to enjoy their entertainment fully, and wireless
high-speed Internet means that as and when needed,
one can remain fully connected to the outside world.
The most distinctive feature of this living space is
the winding, floating stairway, built from
tastefully-patterned wood and supported by 8
columns. The dining table seats six, and is set
beside another lotus pond easily accessible (as for
an after-dinner walk) by stepping stones that curve
a path through the courtyard to the kitchen, at
first hard-to-glimpse due to the artful placement of
a row of wide stone pillars.
The master bedroom takes up the entire second floor
of the villa, and is decadently-furnished with top
quality linens and a Chinese silk bedcover.
Embroidered drapes hang from the windows, leading to
a timber balcony deck beyond, from which one can be
awed by the magnificent view of the horizon. Two
other bedrooms downstairs are identically furnished
with a personal terrace, glass doors and fly
screens. All bedrooms are en-suite, and allow for
the use of a unique black terrazzo bathtub as well
as a spacious washing and dressing area.
