An excellent example
of the new genre of 'destination villa', the
property has been configured to be self-contained,
with excellent service and amenities. A 5-bedroom
villa incorporating water features and symmetrical
lines recalling the works of Luis Barragan- an
aesthetic seemingly removed from its locality but at
the same time an entirely refreshing change and an
exemplar of the transmutability of international
styles. Manned by one villa manager, six butlers,
two cooks, five security guards, two gardeners and
one pool attendant, the staff numbers alone should
be an indication of the level of service to be
expected.
The curves of the
meandering Buwit River hugging the villa's expansive
gardens, the property is surrounded by nature,
beautiful views and riverside trails. The communal
areas feature terrazzo floors, cooled by natural
breezes and ceiling fans and punctuated by daybeds,
ottomans and cushions. Amidst all the sophistication
that could have taken place anywhere in the world,
there are little accent pieces to remind you of
where you are- the antique Timorese dining table
that seats twelve, positioned right next to a
terrazzo bar whilst artwork and primitive statues
pays more homage to the ancient-meets-modern theme.
The spacious guest washroom serving the dining area
and pool comes with its own walk-in shower.
There are two master
bedrooms- the one on the upper level is private,
with a terrace and daybed affording views of the
lotus pond. With sliding glass doors to allow for an
unobstructed view. The en suite bathroom has
washbasins carved out of rock, with a walk-in shower
and toilet. An additional, adjunct, walled garden
with a bathing area open to the sky with
bouganinvillea and palms, containing an oversized
bathtub carved out of black rock.
The second master
bedroom offers lovely views of the gardens and
terraced rice fields, with doors on either side of
the bed opening into the master bathroom- outfitted
with his and hers washbasins, black terrazzo tub,
walk in shower and toilet. The three remaining
bedrooms share many similar characteristics, with a
king-sized bed, built in wardrobes and a bathroom
with his and hers washbasins, walk-in rainshower and
toilet. One of these three bedrooms, however, has an
outdoor shower-within-a-walled garden. Each bedroom
comes with a safe deposit box.
