Horse Themed Travel
The study of horse cultures throughout Central Asia, so intertwined with the nomadic lifestyle and an analysis of man’s interaction with horses, is analogous of how and why we travel.
From Chatwin’s advocation of ‘the nomadic alternative’ , citing Robert Burton’s ‘Anatomy of Melancholy’ that everything we encounter in nature ‘teaches us that we should ever be in motion’, to (…) the liberation that comes from owning so little and consequentially, having to protect so little, is one of the reasons why we travel, and why we play at being a nomad, for the short duration of the trip, on the steppes of Mongolia, or the Pantanal Wild Wet in Brazil.
