The usage of vernacular materials is apparent- from the 'alang alang' thatch of the cabanas to the Palimanan stone of the water features and bathroom fixtures.

The central feature of the villa are the water features- being the pool and lotus pond, the latter being situated on the second floor, providing a demarcation between the two buildings. A Buddha statue dominates the lotus pond, while white flowers cover the walkways to the master bedroom, small painting gallery and a smaller bedroom with a view into the rice paddy fields.

A bedroom on the pool level has a garden bathroom of chic black terrazzo, sliding doors facing the valley and a lush four-poster bed.

The communal nature of the house presents itself in the living/dining areas- accessible through an external cantilevered staircase from the pond. An expansive area, culminating in an elliptical balcony with lush views of the greenery that seems to envelope you, overhanging the river valley- an excellent way, as you'd come to appreciate, of creating a stylistically exciting feature whilst preserving the original forest plants. Furnished with comfortable sofas and a large mahogany dining table (all facilitating vernacular materials, of course), this area presents excellent entertaining possibilities.
